Buildings

Distributed optical fiber sensors have enormous potentialities in the permanent monitoring of different buildings, during their whole life--time.

They allows continuous and real-time monitoring of buildings and thus to determine their condition and to identify potential problems or defects at an early stage, implementing an higly performant early warning systems.

Such a system performs an instantaneous and cost effective diagnosis of structural deterioration of the building allowing timely maintenance interventions, targeted to the preservation or restoration of the safety conditions.

The fiber can be applied on the building to monitor, to detect deformations and cracks, or even on foundation piles,  to measure deformation and other analysis based on strain and temperature profiles.
