FOSS systems are proved to be very functional in detecting copper wire thefts: in fact, tying an optical fiber to copper cables and to the closures of manhole access through a specific anchoring system (supplied when purchasing the FOSS Wire kit), each sabotage attempt results in a deformation of the fiber optic cable with consequent deterioration of the optical signal conveyed.

Suitably connected to an audio warning system through a relay, the system provides a deterrent against robberies and, at the same time, launches an alarm to designated personnel so that prompt intervention is ensured.

During the installation phase it is not necessary to interrupt normal operations of the facility.​
